Messi trains with FC Barcelona ahead of La Liga season
FC Barcelona's Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi continued to hit his rhythm during his first week back at training with the Catalan football giants on Thursday following a disappointing showing at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The new Barcelona club captain took to the Sant Joan Despí training field alongside some of his Spanish teammates Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets who, like forward Messi, also crashed out of the World Cup in the pre-quarterfinals, reports Efe.
Braving the high temperatures brought on by a heatwave across the Iberian Peninsula, six members of Barcelona B also took part in the exercises.
Barcelona open their La Liga campaign this year with a home game against Basque team Alaves.
