Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday complimented Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and his team for the Income Tax Disclosure Scheme and said their hard work had led to a "successful outcome".

Modi, in tweets soon after Jaitley announced the outcome of the scheme, also complimented those who had chosen to be tax compliant.

He complimented Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia and Central Board of Direct Taxes chairperson Rani Nair for their "hard work".

"I compliment FM @arunjaitley & his team at @FinMinIndia for the hard work resulting in the successful outcome of IDS-2016," the Prime Minister said.

"RS @adhia03, CBDT Chairperson Rani Nair and their team have put in tremendous effort on all aspects relating to IDS-2016. Congrats to them."

"I compliment all those who chose to be tax compliant in IDS-2016. This is a great contribution towards transparency & growth of the economy," he added.

Jaitley announced on Saturday that assets worth Rs 65,250 crore have been declared by 64,275 people under the latest Income Tax Disclosure Scheme, with scope for some marginal upward revision once the full tabulation is completed.

The scheme was available from June 1 till the midnight of September 30.
