A Samajwadi Party candidate Tuesday said a parliamentarian is not worth his name if on receiving his telephone call an officer does not wet his pants.

Ramji Lal Suman, candidate from Hathras, was caught on tape boasting to his supporters of the powers that people like him have when they become a parliamentarian.

"Aise MP ka kya fayda jiske phone se adhikari ka...na nikal jaye (What's the use of a parliamentarian on whose phone call an official does not wet his pants?)," he said while campaigning in Hathras.

Suman has been a parliamentarian four times in the past and is a close associate of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
