The father of Kerala musician and violinist Balabhaskar who died after sustaining serious injuries in an accident, on Friday asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and state police chief Loknath Behra to probe his son's death.
Speaking to IANS, the musician's father C.K. Unni said: "Whatever happens in the probe, I know my son is gone forever and will not return. But with lots of discussions about my son's death, we decided that we should know what actually is the truth."
The accident took place on September 25 on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram. Balabhaskar's daughter was brought dead to the hospital. He succumbed to his injuries on October 2.
His wife Lekshmi and driver Arjun survived.
Suspicions arose after Arjun said the car was being driven by the musician at the time of the accident.
But when the police approached Lekshmi for her statement, she said that her husband was not driving.
According to the family, the musician who was at Thrissur for a programme, had initially decided to return the next morning.
Balabhaskar's death saddened thousands of his fans, many of whom waited to see him one last time at the University College.
The musician shot to fame when as a 17-year-old he composed music for a Malayalam film.
