Myanmar government appoints National Security Adviser

The Myanmar government has appointed U Thaung Tun as National Security Advisor, the presidential office said on Wednesday.
The National Security Advisor was named to advise the President and the government on internal and external threats by assessing the situation from a strategic point of view, a statement said.
The advisor holds the same status as a minister, it said.
