Poll related social media advertisements need pre-certification before they are uploaded online, Chief Electoral Officer Kunal said on Wednesday.
"All such advertisements require pre-certification as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India," said an official statement.
All political parties in Goa were asked to forthwith submit all such advertisements on social media/e-paper to respective media certification and monitoring committee for pre-certification, said Kunal, who goes by only one name.
Nearly all political parties and independent candidates in the poll-bound coastal state have active social media profiles and dedicated pages which are used for electoral campaigning.
