A grand new Ceremonial Hall was inaugurated at Rashtrapati Bhavan here Friday evening at a gala ceremony attended by President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among other dignitaries.
The hall is for hosting important ceremonial events.
The hall forms part of an integrated Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre with an art gallery, multi-purpose halls and an auditorium.
It has been built as an extension of the existing auditorium. The 55m x 41m hall has been built keeping in mind the requirements of Aug 15 'At Home' receptions and 'Guards of Honour' for visiting foreign dignitaries during inclement weather, said an official statement.
Construction of the hall, whose foundation stone was laid Dec 18, 2013, was completed within a year.
