The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed charges under a stringent anti-terror law against jailed seven Kashmiri separatist leaders and Pakistan-based terrorist leaders Hafiz Saeed and Syed Salahuddin.
In all, the agency named 12 accused in its nearly 13,000-page chargesheet who can be tried under the non-bailable Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act which entails punishment of seven years in jail if the charges are proven.
They have been accused of "conspiring to wage war against the government of India by carrying out terrorist and secessionist activities in Jammu and Kashmir".
The chargesheet was filed in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Tarun Sherawat who is expected to take up the matter post lunch.
Those named as the accused include Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani's son-in-law Altaf Shah, businessman and two stone-pelters.
