With employees of various government departments striking across the state, the Haryana government Wednesday ordered district authorities and police to carry out night patrolling to prevent sabotage of public utilities and services.
Haryana Chief Secretary S.C. Choudhary directed all district magistrates and police officers to ensure regular night patrolling at sensitive points in their areas concerned to prevent sabotage of public utilities and services. He has sought a district-wise report by Thursday morning.
An official spokesman said here Wednesday that 32 criminal cases have been registered against people responsible for intentionally disrupting power supply in various districts of the state.
"Efforts are being made to take strict action against the guilty persons. Many of these FIRs are against the employees of power utilities who were found guilty of intentionally disrupting the supply by short circuiting 11 KV feeders and 33 KV lines," the spokesman said.
Various unions of employees in departments like power, public health, health, ministerial staff, water, tourism and boards and corporations went on strike Tuesday.
Earlier, the state-run Haryana Roadways employees crippled bus services in the state by going on strike Monday. They called off their strike Tuesday after talks with the Haryana government.
