On expansion drive, RSS says all Indians are equal

The RSS, on the first day of its three-day central working committee convention here Friday, said it will expand its base in villages and does not differentiate between Indians.

Talking to reporters after the "Kendriya Karyakari Mandal" meeting, senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Dattatreya Bhosle said Sangh workers were present for relief and rescue operations during natural disasters and other calamities.

He said in the recent Jammu and Kashmir floods, the RSS had put up 140 health camps and rescued 3,085 people while 21,000 people were treated at health camps.

He added that RSS numbers have gone up 20 percent in many states. He added that in the times to come, the Sangh will fan out across the country to connect with various age groups and sections of the society.

Social media, he said, would be used in a big way to attract the youth. "We are a social organisation which works for all without any prejudice," he added.

He also pointed out that the RSS would not like to step on the priorities of the government as it was the latter's prerogative to decide on the course of action and frame policies that benefit people.

Saying not much political significance should be given to this meeting as it is held every year between Dussehra and Diwali, Dattatreya pointed out that present-day issues facing the country were discussed.

Claiming a footprint from Ladakh to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, he said 4,500 new branches have been formed and 1,500 weekly get-togethers have been held in the past three years.
