A 20-year-old youth was killed when his car tumbled into the Ganga river from a pontoon bridge during the ongoing Kumbh, police said on Monday.
The incident happened at Pontoon bridge number 14 late on Sunday when the driver apparently lost control and the vehicle dipped into the river below.
An NDRF team was rushed to the scene. While one occupant of the vehicle, Pankaj Tripathi, was rescued, the other person in the car, Abhyuday Tripathi, could not be saved, a police officer said.
His body was located against the tide some 100 metres away, said the officer.
