The Narendra Modi government on Friday hit out at the Congress for "running away from a debate" and disrupting parliament's proceedings for the fourth consecutive day.
"It is ironic that the Congress is running away from the debate. Even after the chair allowed for a discussion and we accepted it, they (Congress parliamentarians) ran away from the debate. On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi made a statement outside parliament and ran away. They are the reason for the logjam in parliament," Minister of State for Parliamentry Affairs Prakash Javedkar said.
"When they were in power, they ran away from discussions. Even now, they are running away from discussions," he told reporters outside parliament.
Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati told the media outside parliament: "The opposition wants the resignations first and only then a debate can happen."
On Friday, the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the the day within minutes of assembling as the opposition created a ruckus over the Lalit Modi issue and the Vyapam scam.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till noon after repeated disruptions by the opposition parties, demanding the resignations of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and the chief ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
The opposition is demanding the resignation of Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje over the Lalit Modi issue while Chouchan is under attack for the Vyapam scam.
