Indo-Canadian tennis combine of Leander Paes and Daniel Nestor started their grass court season on a winning note by earning a straight sets victory to enter the men's doubles quarterfinals of the Topshelf Open here on Monday.
The second seeds needed only an hour to beat Spaniards Roberto Bautista Agut and Daniel Gimeno-Traver 6-4, 6-3 in the first round, played at the Autotron Park in Rosmalen.
Service games were broken no less than five times in the first set with Paes and Nestor getting one better the take the lead in the match. In the second set, the second seeds broke their opponents twice, once more than Agut and Gimeno-Traver to seal the match.
Overall, Paes and Nestor won 58 of the 108 points played in the match.
Next up, they will take on the winners of the match between French pair Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain and Philipp Oswald of Austria.
