The Pakistan government has handed over a list of 471 Indian prisoners in the country to the Indian High Commission here, an official statement said on Sunday.

The prisoners comprise 53 civillians and 418 fishermen.

This measure comes under the provisions of the Consular Access Agreement which the two neighbours signed on May 21, 2008 and requires the exchange of prisoner lists twice a year -- on January 1 and July 1.

The Indian government will also hand over a list of Pakistani prisoners to the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
