Pakistan Wednesday summoned a senior Indian diplomat and asked him to ensure security of its diplomatic mission after media reports of a protest outside the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi, an official said.

"Some demonstrators gathered in front of our high commission and Pakistan House (residence of the ambassador) in New Delhi today (Wednesday). The protesters raised slogans against Pakistan," a Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson was quoted as saying by Xinhua.

"We summoned Indian deputy high commissioner to the Foreign Office to stress that protection of Pakistan High Commission and Pakistan House is the responsibility of the Indian government," Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said in a statement.

The media has reported that a group of youth belonging to the Congress party protested outside the Pakistan High Commission against the killings of five Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir.

Nearly 200 members climbed police barricades and shouted anti-Pakistan slogans, a media report quoted Delhi Police as saying.

Terrorists, some in Pakistani army uniforms, Tuesday shot dead five Indian soldiers and injured one in Chakan Da Bagh sector of Poonch, 400 metres inside Indian territory.

Four of the dead Indian soldiers belonged to 21 Bihar Regiment and one to 14 Maratha Light Infantry.

Top military commanders of Pakistan and India Wednesday spoke on hotline to reduce the tension along the Line of Control (LoC). Pakistan and India declared ceasefire along the LoC in 2003.
