A police inspector was arrested in Odisha for allegedly molesting a woman constable, an official said Monday.
The inspector-in-charge of Kakatpur police station, Srikant Kumar Nayak, 39, allegedly molested a 32-year-old tribal woman constable inside a room of the police station Jan 6.
Police launched a probe after she lodged a written complaint four days later.
Nayak was arrested Sunday and subsequently placed under suspension after an investigation found the allegation made by the victim to be true, district Superintendent of Police A.K. Singh told IANS.
The inspector was presented before a local court and later sent to judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected, Singh said.
The district headquarters town of Puri is 56 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar.
