Reliance Power's Q1 net profit up 12.21%

Reliance Power on Monday reported a rise of 12.21 per cent in its consolidated net profit for the first quarter (Q1) of 2016-17.

According to the company, its Q1 net profit stood at Rs 340 crore from Rs 303 crore reported in the corresponding period of last fiscal.

However, the company's total income during the quarter under review dipped to Rs 2,748 crore from Rs 2,765 crore earned in the like period of 2015-16.

The company added that its EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) for Q1 stood at Rs 1,142 crore.

Reliance Power, a part of the Reliance Group, has the largest portfolio of power projects in the private sector, based on coal, gas, hydro and renewable energy, with an operating portfolio of 5,945 megawatts.

During the quarter under review, the company's Sasan UMPP (Ultra Mega Power Project) in Madhya Pradesh generated 8,003 million units, operating at availability of 92.6 per cent.

Further, the firm's Rosa Power Plant in UP generated 2,072 million units, operating at availability of 103 per cent.

Besides, the Butibori Power Plant in Maharashtra, generated 1,116 million units, operating at availability of 103 per cent.

The company's 40 MW Dhursar Solar PV plant in Rajasthan generated 18.81 million units, operating at availability of 100 per cent.

In addition, Reliance Power's 45 MW wind capacity in Vashpet, Maharashtra generated 24.68 million units, operating at availability of 91 per cent.

The company added that 100 MW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project at Dhursar, Rajasthan, generated 21.6 million units, operating at availability of 87 per cent.
