Argentine football team River Plate defeated rivals San Lorenzo 1-0 at home to win the Recopa Sudamericana for their seventh international title.

Uruguay's Carlos Sanchez scored the winner in the 67th minute Thursday, reports Xinhua.

As many as 45,000 local fans at Buenos Aires' Nuevo Gasometro Stadium watched as River won their seventh international trophy, adding to the 1986 Libertadores Cup and Intercontinental Cup wins, the 1987 Interamericana, the 1996 Libertadores, the 1997 Supercopa and the 2014 South American Cup.

The Recopa pits the winner of the Libertadores Cup (San Lorenzo) against the winner of the South American Cup (River).
