Over half-a-dozen unidentified armed assailants struck a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) depot here Tuesday and decamped with Rs.7.5 lakh in cash and cheques for Rs.40,000 after stabbing a cashier, police said.

The incident took place around 3.30 a.m. at the Millennium Bus Depot on the Outer Ring Road.

At least seven armed men attacked 55-year-old depot cashier Vikram Singh at the cash section No.3, entered his cabin and stole the money.

The men were armed with locally-made guns and knives, a police officer said.

"One of them pointed a gun at the cashier and asked for the cabin key. When he resisted, they stabbed him, snatched the keys from him and robbed the cash," he said.

The robbers later fled, leaving behind Vikram Singh in a pool of blood.

A DTC official said the robbed money was deposited by conductors of various buses.

Meanwhile, another DTC official found Vikram Singh injured and called the police.

Vikram Singh was taken to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospital where he is recuperating and is said to be out of danger.

"We are scanning CCTV footage installed at the entry point of the depot to identify the accused. Several teams have been formed to crack the case," police said.
