Russia has submitted an appeal against the suspension of its para athletes from the Rio 2016 Games by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the president of the Federation of Physical Culture and Sport for Persons with Physical Disabilities of Russia has said.
IPC President Philip Craven on Sunday announced a decision to suspend Russian athletes from 2016 Rio Paralympics, reports Sputnik.
"We have just lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). It will be considered in accordance with the established procedure. This is all Mr. Craven's black PR," Lev Seleznev told R-Sport on Sunday.
In July, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) urged IPC to suspend the Russian Paralympic team from the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
A report of the WADA independent commission led by Canadian lawyer Richard McLaren, said that Russia had run a state-controlled doping program.
The 2016 Paralympics are scheduled to be held in Rio from September 7-18.
