The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has announced the provisional suspension of world champion Aleksei Lovchev (105kg) from Russia after failing a doping test.
Lovchev tested positive for a banned substance after the World Championships held in Houston last month, IWF announced on Thursday. He broke two world records and won the 105kg class overall title at the championships, reports Xinhua.
The IWF said three other Russian weightlifters Aleksei Kosov, Olga Zubova and Olga Afanaseva also failed tests.
The World Championships altogether had 24 adverse findings for doping tests, including three other medallists Kim Kwang-song from the North Korea, Almas Uteshov and Zhassulan Kyrdyrvayev from Kazakhstan, announced the IWF.
