The Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh and his Samajwadi Party were trying "every trick" to manipulate the panchayat polls to be held in October, BJP national vice president Om Mathur said on Tuesday.
The BJP leader in charge of Uttar Pradesh exhorted party workers to unite and defeat the designs of the Samajwadi Party.
At a meeting of BJP workers and leaders at the state headquarters, Mathur said the Samajwadi Party government was involved in manipulating voters lists, delimitation of areas and the reservation process in the panchayat polls.
He said the people of the state will finally thwart the "nefarious designs" of the ruling party.
According to BJP's state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak, Mathur told party workers that by winning the panchayat polls, the party will be in a position to serve the people at all levels.
Mathur also took stock of the publicity and awareness campaigns launched by the party to educate people about the policies by the union government.
