Paying glowing tributes to iconic actress Suchitra Sen, Saregama India Friday described her as "the heartthrob of the nation".
Mourning Sen's death, Kolkata-headquartered Saregama India chairman Sanjiv Goenka said: "Suchitra Sen stands at the end of a great age in Bengal when actresses opted to build bridges between performing arts and spirituality and truly became legends in their lifetimes."
Goenka, also the chairman of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, said in the statement: "The hearthrob of the nation has chosen to stop and along with the rest of the world, I deeply mourn the passing away of a great actress who also embarked on a lonely journey seeking spiritual truth."
"The mahanayika is no more and we pray for the peace she so richly deserves," he added.
Sen died following a prolonged illness and a massive heart attack at a city nursing home. She was 82.
