The station house officer (SHO) of a police station here has been removed from the post and sent to Police lines for assisting unauthorised construction - banned by the Delhi High Court - in his area of responsibility, police said on Tuesday.
"A observation was given by the Delhi High Court that unauthorised construction was entertained in Aaya Nagar area which was completely banned by it. The report submitted by Fatehpur Beri SHO Rajesh Kumar in the court that no constructions have been made in Aaya Nagar area (in south Delhi) doesn't seem true," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad told IANS.
The Delhi High Court also slammed the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), the SHO and sub-divisional magistrate of the area for supporting unauthorised construction in the area, Prasad said.
"We set up a vigilance inquiry against SHO and found him guilty of supporting illegal construction of buildings in Aaya Nagar area," she said, adding he has been sent to Police lines for not intimating the authorities concerned about the unauthorised construction at Aaya Nagar despite the high court ban.
Investigation is on to ascertain his role in this connection, Prasad added.
