She has all the qualities to be a big screen star, but Maya Viswanath, who is currently ruling the small screen, is clueless about why she is not making it big in films.

"Honestly, I do not know the answer to why I have not clicked so far in the Malayalam films. Maybe, my time is yet to come," Maya, who rubbed shoulders with Mammootty in "Kutty Shrank", told IANS.

"I believe in myself. I feel that just as I took a fairly long time to come up in TV serials, I have a strong belief that soon I will be successful in films too," she added.

Award winning director Shaji Karun selected Maya for "Kutty Shrank" after taking screen test of about 38 actresses.

Her next is with another superstar, Mohanlal.

"I have just finished 'Geethanjali'. It is directed by Priyadarshan and stars Mohanlal," she said.

"Innocent, who's also acting in the film, told me that he's surprised why I haven't made it big in the Malayalam film industry!" she said.

"But I am never sad because acting has now become a passion for me. I have decided to do my job with all my heart and my intution tells me that my time in the film industry is round the corner," said Maya.

Interestingly, the former Miss Trivandrum wanted to be an air hostess or a journalist.

"But I never did what I wanted to and started off as a model. Even though I am 17 years old in showbiz, I became popular on small screen only after I did the character of Vazhapally Janaki in the serial 'Kayamkulam Kochunni' in the late 2000's," said Maya.

Post "Kayamkulam Kochunni" success, she consolidated her position in the TV industry and currently she is known for her role in "Amma", which has crossed 450 episodes since its launch in January last year.

Her next mega serial "Suryakaladi Mana" is will be aired this month on Amritha TV.
