Sri Lanka, aided by right-handed batsman Kaushal Silva's knock of 51 runs, reached 140/3 in their first innings in reply to India's 393 at stumps on Day Two of the second Test here on Friday.
Sri Lanka still trail by 253 runs with seven wickets in hand. Left-hander Lahiru Thrimanne and skipper Angelo Mathews remained unbeaten on 28 and 19 respectively.
For India, fast bowler Umesh Yadav, spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra grabbed a wicket each.
