Subhash Kapoor debuts as lyricist, composer

Director Subhash Kapoor has turned lyricist and composer for his upcoming film "Guddu Rangeela". The song is titled "Mata ka email", and has been used in the film's trailer.

"Growing up in Delhi, I have heard all kinds of interesting 'mata' songs. My childhood memories gave birth to 'Mata ka email' I wrote and composed it because it gels brilliantly well with characters of 'Guddu Rangeela'", Kapoor said in a statement.

"I wanted a very raw and 'desi' (local) feel to it so travelled to Rohtak, Haryana and auditioned local folk singers and picked up a local ragini singer Gajender Phogat to sing it. I am very happy the kind of response 'Mata ka email' is getting. It communicates the space and milieu of 'Guddu Rangeela'", he added.

"Guddu Rangeela" touches upon the sensitive social issue of khap panchayats with an out-and-out masala action comedy, which stars Arshad Warsi, Amit Sadh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Ronit Roy.

Produced by Sangeeta Ahir and presented by Fox Star Studios, "Guddu Rangeela" will hit the theatres in July 2015.
