Outgoing Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan met late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's family during a condolence visit on Friday.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the Parrikar residence near Panaji, Mahajan said that Parrikar was well known to her and she had come to visit his sons because she had been unable to attend the former Defence Minister's funeral on March 18.
"Manohar Parrikar was very close to us and I came to meet his sons, because I could not come to Goa on that day," Mahajan told reporters.
Parrikar died on March 17 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer that lasted over a year.
