The Left Tuesday said it is trying to bring "secular and like-minded parties" together Wednesday, amid speculation over formation of a Third Front ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

"We are uniting the secular and like-minded parties, but it is not a poll pact as of now," a Communist Party of India (CPI) leader told IANS.

The CPI-M has convened the meeting Oct 30 in Delhi in which a host of political parties, namely the CPI, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), Forward Bloc, Samajwadi Party (SP), Janata Dal-United JD (U), Asom Gana Parishad, AIADMK and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, are expected to attend.

These parties contend that neither Congress nor the Bharatiya Janata Party would be able to form a government on their own post-2014 elections.
