Telangana is proud to host the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in November and is preparing to make it a grand success, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said on Tuesday.
In his Independence Day speech, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump's daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump would participate in the meet slated to take place here from November 28 to 30.
"This conference will provide industrialists all over the world to exchange their views, offer help to the aspiring entrepreneurs. The government is making all efforts to make this conference a grand success so that the name and fame of Telangana will spread all over," Rao said after unfurling the national flag at the Golconda Fort.
The Chief Minister said the state's industrial policy was attracting industrialists from all over the world. Stating that Telangana stands first in ease-of-doing business, he said internationally reputed industrial houses were setting up their business in Hyderabad.
He pointed out that under a new policy known as TS-IPASS, the state has so far attracted investments of Rs 1,01,722 crore.
A total of 4,118 new industries were given clearances and licenses providing employment to 2.90 lakh people.
Rao said within a short period of three years, the new state overcame all obstacles and achieved 21.7 per cent economic growth in 2016-2017, becoming the number one state in the country
The chief minister said out of one lakh jobs promised by him during the Telangana statehood movement, 27,660 jobs were created during the last three years. Appointments for another 84,876 jobs will be made shortly.
The state has also succeeded in ensuring uninterrupted power supply and the farm sector will get 24-hour supply from next year, he said.
The Chief Minister said under "Mission Bhagiratha:, all villages will get drinking water by this December.
The Telangana government has taken a bold step and created 21 new districts for administrative convenience.
Due to an increase in the capacity of irrigation tanks and better power supply, the state has witnessed a bumper crop this year. For the first time, paddy production has touched 96 lakh metric tonnes, the Chief Minister added.
