Veteran theatre actor-director Ram Gopal Bajaj, former Director of the National School of Drama, wants live performatives to be made available to children from the grassroot level.
Bajaj, on World Theatre Day on Tuesday, is here to attend the International Theatre Institute ITI, which was founded in 1948 by theatre and dance experts and Unesco.
"Live performatives need to be made available to the children in primary education and such a generation, I believe, will be more sensitive to righteous life and nature," Bajaj said in a statement.
He wants the world to implement and facilitate the art of theatre at the "grassroot level, urban, rural and all".
Bajaj is the second Indian to be invited to the podium of the institute. Veteran actor Girish Karnad had made a speech in 2002.
Still active on the small screen, big screen and theatre, Bajaj is currently working on TV show "Rishton Ka Chakravyuh". He will also feature in Kangana Ranaut-starrer "Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi".
He has played an important role in organising prestigious theatre activities like NSD's Bharat Rang Mahotsav and has worked in plays like "Surya Ki Antim Kiran Se Surya Ki Pehli Kiran Tak", "Skandagupta", "Qaid-e-Hayat" and "Ek Din Ashad Ka".
He has also translated Karnad's play "Rakt Kalyan" in Hindi.
