Fake currency of face value of thousands of crore was being pumped in from an enemy country to destabilize India as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's November 8 'bombshell' has attacked the four 'asuras' of black money, corrupt wealth, terror money and drug money in one go, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Friday.
"Thousands of crore, the figure could even be a lakh crore was being pumped in by an enemy country to destabilise our economy. Our enemy was trying to corrode our economy by sending in these fake notes from Bangladesh, Nepal and Kashmir border and from other routes," Parrikar said at an election rally in Thivim village, located 20 km from Panaji.
He added that it is not just about carrying out small strikes in Kashmir and killing people, they were carrying out attacks on the economy too.
"Black money, corrupt money, terror money and drug money, the four asuras, were hurting the country. The one reason for terrorism in Kashmir, terrorism in the North-East, Naxalite terror is the supply of such money," he said.
"This also includes fake currency notes. Fake currency coming into India from Pakistan is not something new. But, on November 8 at 8 p.m., PM dropped a bomb and in one go threw all fake currency out of circulation," Parrikar added.
