In the aftermath of Sunday's bombings at Bodh Gaya in Bihar, police Monday said they were maintaining a "constant vigil" at the landmark Kali temple in Dakshineswar of neighbouring North 24 Parganas district.

The Dakshineswar Kali Temple, established by Rani Rashmoni in mid-19th century, is being constantly monitored though no additional security measures have been put in place.

"We are monitoring. Vigilance has been increased. We already have a strong security system in place, including CCTV cameras and metal detectors," Debashish Bej, deputy commissioner (detective department) of Barrackpore police commissionerate, told IANS.

Joint Commissioner of Police Jawed Shamim said that the over 200-year-old Kalighat Kali temple in south Kolkata has strong security. "There are no additional measures that have been adopted now."

At least two Buddhist monks were injured early Sunday in multiple blasts at the Bodh Gaya temple.

The blasts did not cause any casualty or damage to the temple and the Bodhi tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment, a police officer said.

The temple at Bodh Gaya was built at the spot where the Buddha attained enlightenment over 2,500 years ago. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002.
