Terming it a shame that West Bengal witnessed a rape daily despite having a woman chief minister, the BJP on Monday gave a call for uprooting the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress government from the state.

"Despite having a woman chief minister, at least one innocent girl is raped daily here... what can be more shameful than that. World famous for its culture and heritage, Bengal is now known for rapes," said Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.

Addressing a party rally here, Vijayvargiya - the party's incharge for the state - said time has come for punishing the unholy forces that have ruled Bengal so far.

"Bengal, which used to lead the country in all respects, is now suffering because of continuous misrule. There is no industry, no employment and there is a reign of terror. Time has come for the people to punish the unholy forces that have ruled so far and join the development bandwagon under the BJP," he said.

Slamming both the erstwhile Left Front government and the incumbent Trinamool for allowing infiltration, the BJP leader asserted the party will not sit quite until it makes Bengal "Trinamool free".

"Let us all take a vow that we will not rest until we throw away this Trinamool government for the sake of Bengal and the country," he asserted.
