The governor of Tokyo on Thursday introduced multilingual robots as a test of the automatons' feasibility ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympic games.

Yuriko Koike interacted with the robots during the event held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building, reports Efe.

From November 13 until the end of February 2018, five of these multilingual robots will be installed in a main Tokyo government building to evaluate their effectiveness in servicing visitors.

All five of the robots are able to communicate in Japanese and English.

Some of the five can also communicate in Chinese and Korean.

During the trial, the robots are expected to help the visitors, giving them directions inside the building and providing information on tourism in Tokyo.

City authorities want the Olympics to be a showcase for Japan's advances in the information and technology fields.
