West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress on Saturday chalked out an elaborate agitation programme against the central government's demonetisation initiative involving workers from tea gardens, jute mills and biri industry.

Briefing the media after the party's core committee meeting, Trinamool national General Secretary Subrata Bakshi said a series of protests would be organised across the state against the "draconian decision" of the Narendra Modi government that has put the masses under tremendous distress.

The series of protests will kick off on November 28 with a walk from College Square in north Kolkata to Dorina Crossing in the central part of the city.

On November 29, tea garden workers would protest before the tea garden. On November 29, biri workers would demonstrate at Dhuliayn in Murhsidabad district.

Tea garden workers would then troop to Kolkata and hold a protest demonstration in front of the Tea Board of India office on December 1.

On the next day, Trinamool activists would submit memorandum to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) office here and hold protests before the bank branches respectively.

Jute mill workers would then hold a protest meeting in Jangipur of Murshidabad district on December 5.

The Trinamool workers would then observe December 6, the day the 16th century Babri mosque was destroyed in 1992, as 'sanahti divas (solidarity day)'.
