Two people were arrested here for trying to mow down a policeman after he asked them to stop at a checkpoint, police said Sunday.
Palinder Singh Jolly and Jeet Singh Bindra, both aged 22 and residents of south Delhi's Jangpura area, were driving near India Gate late Saturday night when they were signalled by a police constable to stop at a checkpoint.
However, they increased their speed and came very close to hitting the policeman before fleeing from the spot. The constable noted down their vehicle's registration number and the duo was arrested at around 2 a.m. from south Delhi's Greater Kailash area.
According to police, a case of attempt to murder along with rash and negligent driving has been registered against the duo whose families are engaged in transport business in south Delhi.
