Two policemen were injured here in a knife attack by five men when they went to investigate a clash between two groups, Delhi Police said Sunday. One of the policemen fired three bullets before two attackers were arrested.
Head constable Balwan and constable Surajbhan received stab injuries on their hands in Ranhola area of west Delhi Saturday late night, police said. One of the attatckers was hit by a bullet in the leg.
The two policemen went to the area on receiving information about a clash between two groups over old enmity, police said.
Mohit, 20, and Rahul, 27, and three others used knives to attack the policemen. During the attack, Balwan opened fire thrice and Rahul received a bullet injury on his leg, a police officer told IANS.
Brothers Mohit and Rahul were arrested while their three accomplices escaped, the officer said. The accused brothers have a previous criminal record.
Balwan and Surajbhan were discharged from hospital after first aid while Rahul was undergoing treatment, police said.
