Two moderate quakes near Japan's Fukushima

A quake of 5.2 magnitude jolted areas near Japan's Fukushima Prefecture at around 10.31 p.m. Wednesday, around 45 minutes after a 5.0-magnitude quake hit the same area, according to Japan's broadcaster NHK.

Both quakes triggered no tsunami alerts and there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, Xinhua reported citing the report.

The 5.2 magnitude tremblor was registered at level 4 on Japan's seismic scale of 7 in parts of Fukushima, with a slight tremor being felt in Tokyo.

A devastating 9.0 magnitude earthquake hit near the prefecture in March 2011 and triggered the world's worst nuclear crisis since the Chernobyl disaster due to a meltdown of reactors in the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
