Mindanao (Philippines), June 9 (IANS/WAM) Nearly 500 families hit by Typhoon Bofa in Mindanao, the second largest and southernmost island in the Philippines, have received food assistance from the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA).
The food parcels were distributed to the families, living in camps, in the presence of Musa Abdul Wahed Al Khaja, UAE ambassador to the Philippines, and Senator Richard Gordon, president of the Philippine National Red Cross.
Head of the RCA relief team Mohammed Al Zarounie said the first consignment of assistance was targeting 5,000 affected families in Mindanao region.
