The UN Children's Fund (Unicef) Friday asked for unhampered delivery of humanitarian assistance to children in need of support amid the recent episodes of unrest in Central African Republic (CAR).
The UN organ noted that fresh fighting in northern and western regions of the country, as well as an upsurge of violence in the capital Bangui, have deteriorated the on-the-ground situation and jeopardised humanitarian access, Xinhua reported.
It particularly warned against the unprecedented attacks against humanitarian workers this month.
Statistic from Unicef showed that across the volatile country, more than 2.3 million children have been affected by violence resulting from a civil war that broke out in December 2012 between mostly Muslim Seleka rebels and the government forces.
Unicef has been making efforts in ensuring water, medicine, nutrition and emergency supplies to children affected by the protracted violence, in addition to setting up new temporary learning spaces for displaced children to continue their studies.
But increased attacks against aid workers made the operating circumstances more challenging.
