US military forces continued to attack the Islamic State (IS) forces in Iraq using a mix of attack, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft to conduct five air strikes Monday and Tuesday in support of Iraqi Security Forces and Sunni tribes protecting the Haditha Dam, a statement said.
According to the statement released by the US Central Command, in total, the strikes destroyed or damaged eight IS armed vehicles, two of which were transporting anti-aircraft artillery, five IS vehicles, and one IS transport vehicle, xinhua reported.
The strikes were conducted under authority to protect US personnel and facilities, support humanitarian efforts and Iraqi forces that are acting in furtherance of these objectives, it said.
Since Aug 7, the US Central Command has conducted a total of 153 air strikes across Iraq.
