People in Srinagar on Friday woke up to a sunny morning with no haze in contrast to the past four days of foggy weather coupled with poor visibility, the Met Office said.
"We are expecting a sunny day ahead in Srinagar. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 14 degrees Celsius on Friday," an official of the weather office told IANS here.
The Met Office said the weather will remain mostly dry in Jammu and Kashmir for two to three days.
Rains late Thursday evening brought some respite from cold conditions and foggy weather in Kashmir. Day temperatures are likely to improve by a few notches from Friday.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar dropped to 0.2 degrees Celsius due to clear night sky.
Heavy fog, along with intense cold, affected normal life in Jammu and Kashmir for four days. Air traffic was hit due to poor visibility as the first flight landed in Srinagar on Thursday afternoon after three days.
Mercury dipped below the freezing point in famed tourist destinations of Pahalgam and Gulmarg at minus 5.4 degrees Celsius and minus 2.1 degrees Celsius respectively.
Kargil town in Ladakh region shivered at minus 6.9 degrees Celsius. It was the coldest place in the state on Friday. The temperature in Leh town was minus 0.6 degrees Celsius.
"The overnight minimum temperature in Jammu city was 10.4 degrees Celsius on Friday," the weather department official said.
