American tennis sisters Serena and Venus Williams were beaten but Danish Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the quarter-finals of the Auckland Classic tennis tournament on Wednesday.
Serena, 35, failed to defeat Madison Brengle, who won 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, reports Efe.
Venus withdrew from her match against Naomi Osaka of Japan after she sustained an injury to her arm.
Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki continued her campaign and managed to defeat the American Varvara Lepchenko 6-3, 6-3.
She will play against Julia Goerges of Germany, who defeated Britain's Naomi Broady 7-5, 6-4.
