A call centre worker was stabbed to death in Lucknow Wednesday, police said.
Shabnam, 28, was walking to office for the morning shift when some miscreants stabbed her a number of times in the neck and back.
The incident occurred near a graveyard close to her house in Hasanganj.
Circle Officer (CO) Mahanagar, DK Rai told IANS that Shabnam worked at the Idea call centre in Hazratganj. A mother of three, her duty hours were from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The attackers also snatched her purse before fleeing. Passers-by and neighbours rushed her to the Balrampur Hospital but doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
Police said they have begun investigations and a dog squad was pressed into service. "We are exploring all angles in the crime. The body has been sent for post-mortem and the family members are being questioned for any possible lead," a police officer said.
