Indian man jailed for molesting minor girl in Dubai

An Indian national living in the UAE was Sunday sentenced to three months in jail for molesting a seven-year-old girl in a lift.

The man, identified only as AA, 25, a cleaner, was found guilty by the Dubai Court of First Instance of indecent acts with the girl in a lift of the building where her parents lived, in December last year, the Gulf News reported.

AA came to the building to deliver food to the victim's mother.

Prosecutors said the defendant molested the Algerian girl when her mother sent her with him to the cafeteria to get change after paying for the meal she had ordered.

The incident was reported when the girl told her mother about what happened in the lift.

"I ordered a meal for her (victim) from the cafeteria. The defendant delivered the meal after a few minutes, when I paid him 50 dirhams (about $13), he said that he did not have change," the mother of the victim said.

"He took my daughter with him to give her the 40 dirhams balance. Fifteen minutes later my daughter returned and she was crying and petrified. When I asked her what happened, she told me that she hated the suspect," she added.

"She claimed to me that he touched her and kissed her neck."

The cleaner, however, denied the charge.
