The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) would induct fresh blood and restructure its organisation across the country in a bid to rejuvenate itself, an IYC leader said on Wednesday.

"The youth of the country have realised that the future lies with the Congress and a large number are joining us. But our aim is not just to increase our membership but to scout for leaders who can take on the leadership mantle," IYC national secretary H.C. Yogesh told mediapersons here.

"We need to begin afresh. To revive our fortunes, we are restructuring the organisation by injecting fresh blood. We are scouting for the young brigade who will lead the party. We will train them to take up the mantle of the party," added Yogesh.

With an eye on the 2016 assembly polls in West Bengal, IYC president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring would hold a youth convention - Sankalp 2016 - in the city on Friday.

"The Congress has a very significant role to play in the assembly polls here, and in Friday's convention Raja Warring will talk about the future plans and the course of action," IYC state head Arindam Bhattacharya said.

Bhattacharya said the IYC president had been travelling across the country to rebuild a vibrant Youth Congress.

"Our efforts to revitalise and rejuvenate the youth wing will soon be visible. The beginning of 2016 will see the IYC taking many strategic steps, including hitting the streets against the ruling party whether at the Centre or the state," added Bhattacharya.
