The Supreme Court's cancellation of all but four coal block allocations since 1993 should have had the minister for power, coal and renewable energy concerned for a number of reasons even if the crisis was not of the current regime's making. What was the government's response? Journalists on the beat were hard put to catch Piyush Goyal for answers after the court order on Wednesday. Indeed, the morning after the verdict, the minister was spotted playing the gracious host at Vigyan Bhavan, greeting industrialists and CEOs at the Make In India initiative. He declined to comment to journalists assembled there.
