Congress today accused BJP of spending huge funds on Narendra Modi's rallies being organised in Uttar Pradesh which should be probed, while Samajwadi Party accused Modi of misleading the people of the state.

"From where did the money being spent on the rallies come? People must be told as to from where the fund for the high-profile publicity for the rallies is coming. All this should be probed," UP Congress president Nirmal Khatri said.

Congress Legislative Party Leader Pradeep Mathur alleged that all top politicians of BJP have been sidelined due to Modi. He claimed that the prime ministerial candidate was decided by the RSS.

Samajwadi Party alleged that Modi was misleading the people of Uttar Pradesh by telling false stories of development of a small state (Gujarat).

"22 crore people of UP will not get impressed with the stories of Gujarat. They know the reality behind the screen," SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said.

He alleged that the rallies and meetings were being sponsored by the corporate world.

The SP spokesperson claimed that the free laptops distributed by the Akhilesh Yadav government were misused by BJP during Modi's rally in Bahraich and said this was "immoral and condemnable".

"Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had distributed free laptops to students for educational purposes, but BJP snatched them and used them for publicity of rally in a wrong manner," he alleged.

Chaudhary claimed that BJP workers had pasted pictures of Modi on the laptops in place of Akhilesh and SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. "This will be probed and stern action will be taken against whosoever is responsible," he said.

Meanwhile, BJP countered SP's allegation on the laptops, saying it was an attack on freedom of expression.

"Only Akhilesh and Mulayam do not have right on the laptops. It's an attack on the emotions of the laptop users," BJP's chief spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak alleged.

He claimed that SP leaders had lost their balance due to the success of Modi's rally.

"They know that Modi's rally was not like the government- sponsored meetings of SP. The huge turnout of the people was not arranged like it was done in SP rallies," Pathak alleged.
