In a telephonic conversation with L K Advani on Monday, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has urged the senior BJP leader to change his decision.

Advani had earlier in the day resigned from several party posts in the BJP. In a letter to party chief Rajnath Singh, Advani had said he was resigning from the BJP Parliamentary Board, Election Committee and the National Executive.

However, it seems Modi, also the newly appointed chief of BJP's election campaign committee, has convinced Advani to think otherwise. "Had a detailed conversation with Advani ji on phone. Urged him to change his decision. I hope he will not disappoint lakhs of Karyakartas," Modi tweeted later in the day.

In a tweet on his conversation with BJP president Rajnath Singh as well, Modi said, "Spoke to Rajnath ji. In such a short time cannot reach the Parliamentary Board Meeting but will stand by whatever decision the Board takes."

The latest resignation comes a day after Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi was appointed as Election campaign committee chief much against the opposition from the veteran leader Advani. Apparently, Advani had absented himself from the National Executive of the party citing ill health.
